Privacy policy

civic.bd processes citizen complaint data to route requests to government agencies. We collect what citizens voluntarily file (title, description, district, optional self-declared NID, contact details) plus authentication identifiers.

Data handled under Bangladesh Digital Security Act 2018 + Personal Data Protection Act (forthcoming)

• NID numbers are self-declared and not verified against the Election Commission database in this build.
• Geolocation is captured at the district / upazila granularity, with jittered coordinates for map display.
• Complaint content marked "public" appears in the transparency feed verbatim.

Retention

Open and in-progress requests are retained indefinitely. Resolved requests are retained for 7 years for accountability auditing.

Sharing

Routed requests are shared with the specific agency assigned. Aggregated metrics may be shared with civil society partners (TIB, BRAC, academic researchers).
